BZ Ivy is by the imported stallion Argentille Ilkay, who was impressively bred but had limited opportunity. Ilkay did in fact sire two horses to go Grand Prix dressage and also, few people realise that Ilkay is by Variant. Variant is on the dam side of Negro, sire of the London and Rio de Janeiro Olympic gold medallist, Valegro. On the dam side of BZ Ivy is Salute, who has been one of the most significant sporthorse sires in Australia in recent times. Salute was the sire of both Victory Salute and Stirling Stilton, who represented Australia in dressage at the World Equestrian Games. Salute is also the sire of the stallions Staccato and Stirling Sprite, Staccato in turn siring two Adelaide 4* 3DE winners in Panamera and Sandhills Brillaire. Stirling Sprite sired the Sydney 3* winner in 2018, Adelaide Hills. Salute himself was also the sire of the dam of Mystery Whisper who won Sydney 3* 3DE and went on to represent the USA at the 2012 London Olympics. Also on the dam line of BZ Ivy is Kilof McOhl, a dressage horse with Olympian Mary Hanna and who was actually ridden around Gawler 3DE by British rider Lucinda Green. BZ Ivy is in foal to the Grand Prix dressage stallion Fiji R.
